Still in remission

AFP blood test results are back. Six weeks after surgery the cancer tumour marker had dropped an amazing 149 points and at 3 was well within the 'normal' range of 0-10.
Three months later it's dropped further to 1.
Great news.

Stiffness diary
Monday: feeling tired and uncomfortable all day. Very bad night, had to take painkiller @ 2am
Tuesday: Still stiff and tired. Not going to Tai Chi today. Appointment with GP tomorrow to discuss ongoing symptoms (clearly unrelated to cancer) of muscle weakness, joint pain, flu like fatigue, feverishness and generally feeling unwell.

  1. YAY! Well that's something to celebrate anyway Fiona.
Amazing drops in the AFP levels - brilliant....

Now however, you need to get to the bottom of these draining aches and pains.
Good luck tomorrow with your GP - hopefully he'll come up with something. I'll be looking out for your update.

Hope you have a better night tonight. I've worked out that if I sleep reasonably well (rare these days) I'm not 'quite' as achy the next day - but there's no real rhyme or reason to it, to be honest.

    Hugs xxxx

  2. I agree with Carole. YAY! Way to knock that cancer on its butt. Oh wait, that's a rectal cancer pun. We'll share it with you anyway.

I read your comment on Carole's blog and before I crack my next joke, I'm really sorry that you are struggling right now. I think it was Rose who observed a lot of us bloggers are down lately. I thought we agreed that at least one of us has to be up at any one time.

So here's my thought. You mentioned you felt like a limp dishrag and that you've been crying a bit. Well, put your wet self in the freezer and in no time at all you'll stiffen right up. Of course then you'll have to put that in your stiffness diary. :-)

I sure wish none of us had to suffer so much. Please remember that I'm thinking of you often and praying for all of us, even if I get behind on your blog. Keep a stiff upper lip (if it isn't stiff already - I don't remember seeing that one in your stiffness diary).

    Hugs and well wishes,

    Steve

P.S. Carla really chuckled over the large box of tissues you sent to Carole.
