"There's a myth that anyone who has a liver problem has brought it on themselves" This quote is from a Crohn's disease patient living with a blocked portal vein hoping for a liver transplant (Independent 31st Oct 2010)

Hoists

I'm sent on a Moving & Handling patients course by work to make sure I'm up to date with legislation, technique and equipment. Luckily I'm chosen to be the guinea pig to sit IN the hoist while being swung around. I also get to lie on the trolley bed to be rolled and moved by slide sheets. A few moments more and I could have dropped off to sleep.

Llanrwst

A quick tour of bridges around North Wales. A holiday isn't a holiday for T unless there are bridges to photograph
I'm flagging by now, walking is slower and hills are hard work. B&B cooked breakfasts are enjoyable though.

Conwy

J camping in Anglesey for a few days with a group of friends to celebrate the end of GCSE's. T and I stay in a lovely guest house in Conwy www.bryn.org.uk. I highly recommend it.

More blood tests

Another raft of blood tests to compare with the first. Plus some more, to check my hepatitis status and whether I have an autoimmune version.
In 'medspeak' an ASMA and AMA blood test.
In layman terms an 'anti smooth muscle autoantibody' and 'Antimitochondrial autoantibody' blood test.
Not to be confused with checking midi-chlorians as they belong in Star Wars. This is someone with too many Midi-chlorians who wasn't Anakin Skywalker.

X-ray

Chest x-ray to rule out TB. I have very high immunogloulin IgG apparently.

Newly qualified

My certificate arrives in the post to say I'm now a qualified Pharmacy counter assistant. That means I know what I'm talking about when you ask me for some diarrhoea tablets!

Hayling Island

We set off on a trip to visit Stonehenge and then family living in Slindon, Richmond and Ealing. I'm worried about the driving, but sitting doing nothing for hours followed by lounging in bed&breakfasts suits me and I feel rested and better. This is us on the shingle at Hayling Island.
